Training takes place at Parkside Pools, Abbey pool or The Leys School.
Access to Parkside pools for evening sessions is via a control gate you may wish to arrive early for your session as you will need to join the queue to gain access by the reception staff. At peak times you may need to be issued with a paper token.
Parkside morning sessions are locked sessions the coaches will lock the doors 5 minutes before the session starts. You will need to access Parkside pools via the car park entrance.
Sessions range in length from one hour to two hours and take place both in the morning and evening. Swimmers should wear club hats at all training sessions and competitions. The coaches may ask you to sit out a training session if you don't have one.
For training you will definitely need the following items. Note that glass items must never be taken on poolside and plastic water bottles should therefore be used.
- Swimming costume (not shorts or bermudas)
- Swimming hats
- Drinks bottle (Water or squash re-hydrates quickest)
- Suitable bag
- Exercise mat
- Skipping rope
- Stretch Cords
- Recording sheet / logbook
In addition, for competitions, galas, open meets etc the following will be needed
- Cambridge Swim Team swimming hat (Essential)
- Cambridge Swim Team t-shirt (Essential)
- Cambridge Swim Team Hoodie/Shorts/Tracksuit
- Pool shoes
- Spare goggles
- Extra drinks bottle
- Change of costume
- Extra towels
- Snacks and packed meals for afterwards
Many of the above are available through the CoCSC Swim Shop usually held once a month on a Thursday at Parkside.
