9th June 2003

Two of City of Cambridge's masters swimmers journeyed to Swansea at the weekend to take part in the Great Britain Masters Championships which took place in the brand new 50m National Pool of Wales. There were no medals this time round but there were some encouraging results.

Andrea Viola achieved the best finishes of the pair placing 6th in both the the 50 and 100m breaststroke events in the 40-44 age group. His time of 34.46 for the shorter event was just a whisker away from earning him a podium position. Meanwhile, team-mate Steve Buckley put up lifetime best performances of 59.68 over 100m freestyle and 30.75 for the 50m Butterfly to earn 12th and 13th places respectively in the 25-29 division.
