Junior Fenland League Success 2011

City of Cambridge swimmers have put on a superb performance to come top of the League in the Junior Fenland 2011 season.

The team went into the final in a strong position, and with some fantastic performances finished second in the final round to take the 2011 Junior Fenland League title.

The team put on a fantastic performance in the final round with numerous personal best times swum.

13 year old Kasra Aghajani was boy’s captain on the night and set personal bests in all of his swims. Kasra placed 1st in the 50m Fly and the 100m Individual Medley and also took a second place in the 50 backstroke. Swimming up an age group, Jack Race and Sophia Rodrigues were on top form to place 1st in the 50m freestyle and the 100m Individual medley. Jack also set a further personal best in the 50m breaststroke. In the 50m backstroke Emily Biggs placed 2nd.

In the 12 and under Levin Graf and Hannah Lin, swimming up an age group, both touched 1st in the 100m Individual Medley events. The other 1st in the age group came from Jenny Hill who set a PB in the 50m breaststroke. Sasha Nsubuga swimming in the 50m backstroke finished in 2nd place

Susanna Fraser took the 1st in the 11years and under 50m breaststroke lowering her PB time in the process. 2nd places were achieved in the age group by Jake Moxham, swimming up in the 50m freestyle, and Jess Wright also in the 50m freestyle, both swimmers set new personal best times. Jake also tackled the 25m butterfly where he again lowered his PB time.

In the 10years and under Nicole Taylor, swimming up an age group, took 1st in the 50m Breaststroke. Teammate Saskia Malhotra put in a fantastic PB performance to win in the 25m Fly. There were 2nd Places for Josh Borrett in the 50m Breaststroke and Evie Harrington in the 50m freestyle. Jacek Schmidt, in the 50m freestyle and George Whisken, in the 50m Backstroke both took second places both boys were swimming up an age group.

1st places in the 9 years age group came from Emily Semple, in the 50m Freestyle and George Whisken, in the 50m Breaststroke,

Other swimmers adding to the points tally in the final were Oliver Heydinger who set a PB in the 50m breaststroke and Jordan Bradford who also set a PB in the 50m freestyle. There were also solid performances from Bronagh Whisken, Elizabeth Minshall and Girls Captain Claire Shawcross.

The evenings races were finished off with the 8x25m Freestyle Squadron which comprised, George Whisken, Jacek Schmidt, Levin Graf, Jack Race, Evie Harrington, Jess Wright, Lisanne Heinz, Lauren Crawford With the whole team spurring each other on the swimmers produced a 2nd place finish

There was a really good team spirit on the evening with Jake Moxham, Jenny Hill, Saskia Malhotra. Sasha Nsubuga all getting their first call up for the Junior League
