National Arena League 1st round victory for CoCSC

City of Cambridge Swimming Club hosted the first round of the East Midlands National Arena League and dominated the event.

Over the evening 50 races took place, with City securing first place in 32 events.

The evening kicked off with Bethan Bottomley securing 2nd place in the Ladies 200 IM and Richard Jefferies securing 1st place in the Mens 200 IM.

This followed with some exciting relay races with wins for the 11U Girls Freestyle team, 13U Boys and Girls Medley Teams, Boys 15U Freestyle team and the Open Ladies and Mens Medley Teams.

Kate Little and Josh Goncalves secured first place in the 13U 100m breastroke, Alex Harrison and Richard Jefferies gaining the first touch in the Ladies and Mens 100m fly event, Georgia Crawford and Liam Doonan touching first place in the 15U 100m fly, Becky Burton 13U 100m fly and Bethan Bottmley and John Sargent touching first in the Ladies and Mens 100m backstroke.

In the freestyle events, Nell Bullard and Myles Turner won the 10-11 age group 50m freestyle, Harry Robinson 13U 100m freestyle, Annie Little and Bartu Atamert 15U 100m breaststroke, Boris Ledovskih 15U 100m freestyle, Alex Harrison Ladies 100m breaststroke and Megan Connor and Dale Waterhouse winning the Ladies and Mens 100m freestyle events.

The final races saw the 9U Boys Medley team, 13U girls and boys freestyle teams, 15U girls and boys Medley teams touching first.

The last two exciting races of the night were the Ladies and Mens 6 x 50 freestyle relay event, where the positions can change all the time. However Citys teams of Henny Dillon, Bethan Bottomley, Sam Auker, Charlotte Begg, Georgia Crawford, Megan Connor, Richard Jefferies, Ho on To, Andy Corley, Danny Proffitt, John Sargent and Dale Waterhouse proved a too mighty force for their opponents with City ending the evening with two final victories.
