Eastern Junior League - Round 2

10th June 2002

City of Cambridge Swimming Club Juniors took part in the second round of the Eastern Junior League at the weekend (Saturday 8th June 2002), competing at Wymondham. Team selection was hampered by the gala clashing with school holidays, with over twenty changes having to be made to the original selection due to family and other commitments.

With having to make so many changes, some swimmers were asked to swim more races than would normally be required, and it was a great credit to all of the swimmers that they managed to finish in second place overall, 31 points clear of the next placed team.

The team managed 29 top three finishes in total, with nine of them being first places.
First place finishes went to:-
Amy Dive. Girls 10 years 50m Breaststroke (50.39)
Adam Oakman. Boys 12 years 50m Freestyle (30.66)
Harry Douglas. Boys 11 years 50m Freestyle (38.17)
Girls 10 years 4 x 25m Medley Relay
Girls 10 years 4 x 25m Freestyle Relay
Girls 9 Years 4 x 25m Freestyle Relay
Boys 9 Years 4 x 25m Freestyle Relay
Mixed 9 Years 4 x 25m Freestyle Relay
Canon Relay 8 x 25 m Freestyle Relay

Team Coach Elaine Hill was full of praise for the whole squad, which again turned in a magnificent team performance, and thanked every member of the team for the effort they made in producing such an excellent result.
