Swimmers mainly from the Development section of the City of Cambridge Swimming Club recently took part in an inter-club gala, held at March.
The City of Cambridge club raised two teams for the four team friendly gala, and in a great atmosphere the swimmers efforts were rewarded with the A team finishing in first position and the B team finishing second.
A total of 44 swimmers turned out, some of them representing the club for the first time, and the atmosphere of the gala created a tremendous team spirit, which helped spur the City swimmers on to achieve a total of 29 personal best times, with the B team piping the A team by 16 to 13.
The A team finished the event with tremendous statistics, amassing 28 first places, and taking a top three spot in all events. The B team also achieved great success, with 36 top three finishes out of the 43 event gala.
Development coach Elaine Hill, was delighted with the achievements of all swimmers, and with so many excellent performances, was unable to pick individual performances for mention out of such a great effort by everyone. Instead, she chose to praise all swimmers for the tremendous effort that was put into every event, and for the amazing team spirit that was created by the enthusiasm and commitment of both teams.
