Stu Taylor, 15, has been selected for the England schools side to take on Ireland at the new Manchester Commonwealth pool.
After a series of trials, Taylor was selected for the squad and became Cambridge's first England international water polo player.
Taylor has been in the sport for 2½ years after getting involved through The Leys coach Steve Cornell, having swum for City of Cambridge for seven years.
He also plays water polo and still swims competetively for City of Cambridge and was a member of the Midland District team that won the National Inter-District title in Sheffield last year.
Taylor said: "I was really pleased to be selected. I didn't know if I had got in or not and when I was told I was really happy.
"I think it will be really good experience for me and spur me on to make the men's team."
